Seventeen-year-old Maya Solomon is denied any chance at a normal high-school experience when the novel 212-R virus ravages the nation and the sounds of a violent attack outside her house forces her into her panic room. When she emerges, she’s horrified to find her once-familiar suburban streets overrun by red-eyed, flesh-eating zombies.
With civilization in tatters, her scientist father’s work for the CDC sits unknown and unused. Maya teams up with three fellow survivors on a quest to uncover humanity’s last chance for a cure, but to reach the lab in Raleigh, North Carolina she will have to outrun the infected teenaged boy dogging her every step and cross into a city swarming with monsters.
Elixir is the thrilling first book in The Red Plague YA apocalyptic series. If you like strong female protagonists, dystopian worlds, and fast-paced adventures, then you’ll love Anna Abner’s gripping tale.
