Il soldato Eriksson, da poco in Vietnam, viene salvato in azione dal suo sergente, il coraggioso ma trucido Meserve. Viene più tardi da questi coinvolto nel rapimento di una giovane contadina. Stuprata dai componenti della squadra (ma non da Eriksson), la ragazza viene poi uccisa durante un combattimento, per ordine di Meserve stesso. Eriksson non si dà pace, finché non vedrà i suoi compagni condannati.
