L'astronave "Event Horizon", che funziona come un buco nero, generando con il suo propulsore una poderosa deformazione spazio temporale, durante il viaggio inaugurale scompare, per riapparire sette anni più tardi nei pressi di Nettuno. L'astronave, nel suo viaggio attraverso il lato oscuro dell'universo, è divenuta un organismo in grado di materializzare le paure e gli incubi più atroci.
