Al tredicesimo piano di un grattacielo in cui ha sede una grande società, Douglas e Hannon hanno spinto al massimo la tecnologia virtuale ricostruendo la Los Angeles del 1937. Quando Douglas si sveglia in stato confusionale, scopre una camicia insanguinata e il cadavere di Hannon nel retrobottega di un pub. Chiamato al riconoscimento del corpo nella 'morgue' del coroner i sospetti ricadono su di lui. Ma è lui il vero colpevole e, soprattutto, perché non ricorda nulla?
