
Durante un combattimento contro i mostri meccanici del Dottor Inferno, Mazinga Z risveglia accidentalmente dal suo sonno millenario nelle viscere della Terra l'arpia Silen, un essere appartenente alla primordiale stirpe dei demoni. L'evento non sfugge al Dottor Inferno, che è a conoscenza del fatto che numerosi demoni giacciono ibernati sotto i ghiacciai perenni dell'Himalaya. Egli precede quindi Silen nel recesso dove sono sepolti gli altri demoni e li risveglia dal loro letargo sottoponendoli ad un raggio condizionatore per impiegarli nella sua lotta per la conquista del mondo. Ma oltre che con Mazinga Z, stavolta il malvagio scienziato dovrà fare i conti anche con Devilman, l'essere metà demone e metà uomo, che da sempre combatte i demoni per difendere l'umanità. Dopo un'iniziale rivalità con Ryo Kabuto (Koji Kabuto), lo affianca sul campo di battaglia per sconfiggere Inferno e sventare la minaccia dei suoi risorti rivali.
