Una terribile epidemia dilaga in Scozia costringendo a costruire, proprio la dove sorgeva il Muro di Adriano, una nuova barriera fisica che pone in isolamento l'intero stato, separandolo dal resto della Gran Bretagna. Dopo trent'anni però una fuga porta il temibile virus sino a Londra e viene così organizzata una spedizione che si rechi nella zona dove è avvenuta la prima contaminazione per verificare l'eventuale presenza di qualche sopravvissuto che possa avere sviluppato in sé gli anticorpi per resistere alla malattia.
