Tutti e tre vengono trovati a letto, nudi, assassinati da un colpo di pistola alla testa. Frank Keller, capitano della polizia, divorziato e prossimo alla pensione, si occupa del caso. Mettendo annunci sullo stesso giornale entra in contatto con varie donne. Tra queste la più indiziata è Helen e, involontariamente, tra i due nasce una pericolosa attrazione.
