Tra molte fantasticherie e inseguendo il sogno di diventare uno scrittore affermato, il giovane Garp guarda stralunato il mondo che lo circonda. Il ragazzo è convinto di poter modellare il mondo a sua immagine e somiglianza, ma, arrivato all'età adulta, è costretto a fare i conti con la realtà.
