"Gli uomini sono tutti cacciatori". Ma è proprio vero? Paul (Jason Lee) sta per sposare la fidanzata storica Karen (Selma Blair), nonostante i suoi parenti lo intimidiscano ancora. Il futuro suocero (James Brolin) gli ha procurato un posto nell'azienda di famiglia, e così anche al lavoro è tenuto sotto stretto controllo. Nell'ora d'aria concessa per la festa di addio al celibato, poco prima del matrimonio, Paul lascia che gli amici organizzino la serata perfetta, con fiumi d'alcool e provocanti ballerine in gonnellino di paglia. La mattina dopo, si risveglia accanto a una ragazza sconosciuta che dice di chiamarsi Becky (Julia Stiles). Prima che Karen scopra il tradimento la mette fuori dalla porta, senza sapere che la ragazza è tra gli invitati al suo matrimonio, in quanto cugina della futura sposa. A causa dell'incidente l'uomo finisce in mezzo a una serie di guai che comprendono un ex fidanzato poliziotto geloso e aggressivo, un fratello minore infatuato (Thomas Lennon) e un officiante sopra le righe (Larry Miller).
