Trama:Il boss mafioso Paul Vitt sta per uscire da Sing Sing e gli agenti dell'Fbi sono sconcertati: giorno dopo giorno vedono il più famoso gangster di New York vagare per la cella in stato catatonico e improvvisamente mettersi a cantare le canzoni di "West Side Story". Non sapendo se si tratti di un vero crollo nervoso o se stia fingendo per accelerare la scarcerazione, l'Fbi decide di rilasciarlo con la condizionale e di affidarlo alla custodia dell'analista che in passato si è occupato di lui, Ben Sobel. Quest'ultimo non vorrebbe permettere all'uomo di entrare nuovamente nella sua vita, ma non ha scelta.
