Trama:Luther Whitney, professionista del furto, prossimo al ritiro, si prefigge un ultimo grande colpo per chiudere la carriera in bellezza. Ma non può prevedere che la padrona di casa abbia rinunciato all'ultimo momento a partire per il week-end insieme al marito, e soprattutto che ella riceva in casa il suo amante, il Presidente degli Stati Uniti. Assiste all'omicidio involontario della donna da parte delle guardie del corpo del Presidente, ma il caso viene insabbiato e da quel momento Luther diventa un personaggio scomodo. Ne consegue l'inevitabile caccia da parte di polizia e servizi segreti.
