Dopo nove anni trascorsi a rimandare il progetto per contraccolpi finanziari (l'insuccesso dell'operazione Grindhouse con Tarantino) e ripensamenti, Sin City 3D - Una donna per cui uccidere approda sugli schermi come se nulla o quasi fosse cambiato dal tempo del primo episodio. Fedeltà rigorosa alla graphic novel originaria, con additivi concepiti ex novo da Frank Miller in continuità di spirito e plot, stessa estetica e cast con qualche cambiamento forzato (Josh Brolin per Clive Owen, Jamie Chung per Devon Aoki). Il "quasi" è rappresentato dal 3D, ormai immancabile nelle produzioni ad alto budget, che risulta stranamente forzato, quasi ossimorico per illustrare le sporche faccende di Basin City.
