L'aereo su cui viaggia un gruppo di lavoratori di un oleodotto si schianta in una zona remota dell'Alaska e i pochi sopravvissuti, con a capo Ottway (Liam Neeson), si ritrovano a doversi confrontare con le avversità dettate dalla rigidità del clima e da un ambiente a loro ostile, ricoperto di neve e ghiaccio e abitato da un branco di famelici lupi.
