In un futuro prossimo, gli Stati Uniti, devastati già da una grave crisi economica, sono attraversati da un’orribile epidemia di vampirismo che sta annientando tutti gli esseri umani, trasformati in mostruose creature. L’adolescente Martin (Connor Paolo), dopo aver assistito alla barbara uccisione dei propri genitori, si unisce a un abile cacciatore di vampiri (Nick Damici) che, armato di paletti di legno, vuole raggiungere una nuova pacifica terra settentrionale. Durante il viaggio, troveranno la compagnia di una suora (Kelly McGillis) in piena crisi mistica, di una giovane cantante folk incinta (Danielle Harris) e di un ex soldato (Sean Nelson) ma dovranno affrontare attacchi sempre più infernali per sopravvivere.
