Il ragazzino si chiama Daryl, ha 12 anni, è intelligentissimo, bravo a giocare a baseball, fulmineo nei calcoli, ma non ricorda nulla del suo passato. In compenso è adorato dalla coppia senza figli che lo ha preso in adozione. L'idillio familiare termina quando arrivano due scienziati... D.A.R.Y.L. infatti è un prodotto di laboratorio.
