Profumo – Storia di un assassino è un film del 2006 diretto da Tom Tykwer.
Il 17 luglio 1789, una pescivendola dà alla luce un bambino ma, credendolo morto, lo abbandona incurante nella sporcizia del sudicio mercato. Il neonato, tuttavia, inizia a respirare e il suo pianto attira la curiosità della folla e le forze dell’ordine, che accusano la donna di infanticidio.
Quando la giovane viene impiccata, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille è affidato alle cure dell’orfanotrofio di Madame Gaillard. Il bambino svilupperà sin dalla tenera età un olfatto superiore alla norma, che condizionerà tutta la sua esistenza. All’età di tredici anni, Grenouille (Ben Whishaw) è venduto al conciatore parigino Grimal.
