The Legend of Zorro è un film del 2005 diretto da Martin Campbell, sequel de La Maschera di Zorro.
Anno 1850: si vota per decidere se congiungere la California agli Stati Uniti. Sono trascorsi dieci anni dall'ultima volta in cui Don Alejandro de la Vega (Antonio Banderas) ha indossato la maschera di Zorro per difendere i deboli e i poveri dalle angherie dei potenti. Dopo aver combattuto per lungo tempo le ingiustizie, ora vive tranquillo a San Francisco con la sua famiglia: ha infatti promesso alla bella moglie Elena (Catherine Zeta-Jones) di essere un buon marito e un buon padre e non più un giustiziere mascherato. Al piccolo Joaquin (Adrian Alonso), inoltre, non è mai stato rivelato nulla dell'identità segreta di suo padre.
Don Alejandro è però diviso tra i suoi due mondi, esser il paladino dei peones o dedicarsi solo alla sua famiglia. L'uomo non riesce a dimenticare Diego, il padre di Elena che, prima di morire fra le sue braccia, lo nominò suo successore ed erede della Maschera di Zorro. Quando la California sta per diventare il 31° stato americano, la minaccia di un complotto da parte dei possidenti terrieri che vogliono impedirne l'unione sarà l'occasione per tornare in azione.
