Tropic Thunder è un film del 2008 diretto da Ben Stiller.
Il regista inglese Damian Cockburn (Steve Coogan) è alle prese con un kolossal sulla guerra in Vietnam, ispirato alle memorie del veterano John ‘Quadrifoglio’ Tayback. Sfortunatamente, il cast di attori scelti per il film non sembra voler collaborare e le riprese procedono a rilento.
Messo sotto pressione dall’insistenza del produttore Les Grossman (Tom Cruise), Cockburn decide di accelerare le tempistiche e rendere le riprese il più naturali possibili.
Così, abbandona il divo Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), il pluripremiato Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.), l’attore comico Jeff ‘Fats’ Portnoy (Jack Black), il rapper Alpha Chino (Brandon T. Jackson) e la nuova stella del cinema Kevin Sandusky (Jay Baruchel) nel bel mezzo della foresta vietnamita.
