Memorie di un assassino, film diretto da Bong Joon Ho, è ambientato nel 1986 nella provincia di Gyunggi, nella Corea del Sud, dove si indaga su due casi di donne trovate morte, uccise molto probabilmente dalla stessa mano. A occuparsi degli omicidi sono i detective del posto, Park Doo-Man (Kang-ho Song) e Cho Yong-koo (Roe-ha Kim), ma con i loro metodi brutali e rudimentali i due non sono pronti ad affrontare dei crimini così violenti né tanto meno la ricerca di un maniaco omicida.
Chi ha le basi necessarie per investigare sul caso è il collega Seo Tae-Yoon (Sang-kyung Kim) di Seoul, che si reca nel paesino per aiutare con le indagini. Quando una terza donna viene rinvenuta morta, assassinata con lo stesso modus operandi delle altre due vittime, Seo non ha più dubbi: hanno a che fare con un serial killer...
