The Abandons è una serie tv statunitense creata per Netflix dall'ideatore di Sons of Anarchy Kurt Sutter. Il drama western ruota attorno a un gruppo di famiglie diverse e stravaganti che perseguono il proprio Destino Manifesto nell'Oregon del 1850 e attorno a una forza corrotta dal potere e dalla ricchezza che brama la loro terra e cerca di cacciale via.
La star de Il Trono di Spade Lena Headey interpreta Fiona Nolan, un'irlandese devota e incapace di concepire, la quale cerca di costruire una famiglia adottando quattro orfani, credendo che le sue azioni abbiano uno scopo superiore. Ben presto, però, si ritrova a lottare contro aristocratici europei che rivendicano il possesso della casa che ha recentemente acquistato. La veterana di X-Files Gillian Anderson è invece Constance Van Ness, la matriarca di una famiglia molto diversa - ricca, privilegiata e legata dal sangue. Le due donne scoprono che i loro destini sono legati da due crimini, da un terribile segreto, da un amore sfortunato e dal suddetto pezzo di terra le cui viscere sono ricche d'argento. Lo scontro che segue riecheggia la battaglia americana tra ricchi e poveri, in un luogo fuori dalla portata della giustizia.
