Omaha, Nebraska: due anni dopo i fatti narrati in Breaking Bad, Saul Goodman lavora come commesso pasticciere in un negozio di Cinnabon, sotto falsa identità, in un centro commerciale. Tormentato dal rischio di essere riconosciuto trascorre una vita piuttosto tranquilla, passando le sere a seguire notiziari, vedere film e le sue vecchie pubblicità registrate in videocassetta, che gli rievocano i tempi passati.
La storia si sposta nel passato, quando Saul usava ancora il suo nome legale, James McGill, e cercava in tutti i modi di affermarsi come avvocato penalista.
