2020: Dopo una serie di esplosioni nucleari in varie parti del mondo, a Los Angeles, le persone più ricche o con un determinato patrimonio genetico, vengono riunite in un bunker sotterraneo, l’Avamposto 3, progettato dalla “Corporazione” nello stesso edificio sotterraneo della scuola Hawthorne, nel quale saranno protette dalle radiazioni esterne. Sotto il comando gerarchico della Corporazione, Wilhemina Venable è la direttrice della struttura, con Ms. Meade sua fedele aiutante. Ma già dall'arrivo, i sopravvisuti capiranno che la vita nel bunker sarà tutt'altro che semplice e gioiosa. Il gruppo verrà diviso in Viola e Grigi, rispettivamente i residenti e i servi. I Viola sono Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt, Dinah Stevens, Mr. Gallant e sua nonna Evie, il figlio di Dinah, Andre, e due ragazzi con un DNA speciale: Timothy Campbell ed Emily. Tra i Grigi c’e anche Mallory, assistente personale di Coco. I sopravvissuti devono adeguarsi alle rigide regole di Ms. Venable, tra le quali quella di non avere rapporti sessuali di nessun genere. Le speranze di una salvezza diminuiscono e l’inverno nucleare porta le radiazioni all’esterno.
La stagione è il crossover tra Murder House (stagione 1) e Coven (stagione 3).
