Trama:Charles Bonnet è un filantropo e mecenate d'arte che, possedendo una ricchissima e famosa collezione, a volte regala pezzi rari a musei e a volte ne vende alcuni ricavandone grosse somme. L'ultimo suo gesto consiste nel prestito di una statuetta di Venere, attribuita al Cellini, che viene esposta in un museo di Parigi. Della cosa è molto preoccupata Nicole, la figlia di Bonnet, specie quando apprende che, per una clausola del contratto assicurativo, la statuetta celliniana verrà esaminata da uno specialista.
