In un futuro non lontano il commercio di organi artificiali è florido e molti si affidano al credito per potersi comprare un organo malato e riprendere a vivere. Ma se i pagamenti non verranno effettuati, gli organi, a volte vitali, dovranno essere recuperati, anche in maniera poco ortodossa. Un compito che viene affidato a vari recuperatori, di cui fa parte, tra i migliori, Remy (Jude Law). Per un incidente durante uno dei recuperi Remy diviene lui stesso bisognoso di un organo artificiale, e una volta diventato lui stesso moroso, verrà ricercato dagli stessi ex compagni di lavoro.
